FAQs

Here are some answers to frequently asked questions. For any other queries, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

FAQs: Booking your place

Q: How do I enter?

A: All bookings must be made online (we no longer accept paper entries). Click here to book your places.

Q: Can I enter on the day?

A: We strongly advise that all runners book their place before the advertised deadline. It is possible to book after this deadline however, as we need pre-order the potatoes, availability cannot be guaranteed on the day if you book after the deadline. We have been known to sell out!

We also strongly advise pre-booking for the Spud and Spoon categories which have sold out without fail for the last few years. We only prepare a certain number of goody bags and so places are limited.

Q: Can I update my registration info?

A: In most cases the committee can update your registration information manually. If you need to make any changes please please email us.

Q: The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

A: When entering online please ensure that the Runner name fields are completed. The person named in the "Runner Name" field is the person entitled to run the race. This does not need to be the same person as the bill payer.

Q: Do I need to print my booking confirmation?

A: We will have a list of all runners on the day but bringing your ticket may speed up your registration process.

Q: Can I cancel and get a refund?

A: We can issue refunds in exceptional circumstances. If you would like to cancel your registration please email us.

FAQs: General

Q: Can I keep the potatoes?

A: In previous years runners have been allowed to take the spuds they carried home with them. Unfortunately, owing to the current cost of potatoes, this is not possible this year. We hope to reinstate this tradition once the cost of potatoes goes down.

Q: Who organises the event?

A: The race is organised by a small but dedicated committee who meet once a month from January-June.

Q: What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

A: There will be very limited parking available outside of the road closures in Flitton and Greenfield, and on the recreation ground next to the Village Hall (for a donation - and vehicles will not be able to enter/exit while the roads are closed). We advise that visitors do not bring cars to the event where possible. You can find a map of the route with points of interest marked on our Location page.

Q: Is there medical cover in place?

A: Qualified medical cover is provided throughout the event by qualified first aiders based in the medical tent at The White Hart.

Q: How is the race timed?

A: In 2018 the committee introduced electronic chip timing to all of the race categories (except Spud & Spoon). Runners are given a numbered timing chip on arrival. The chip records the runner's finish time when they cross the timing mats at the finish line. For relay teams, the timing chip must be worn by the last runner.
